d.w. vs. the previous post.

ok, so maybe life can be beautiful at times. as long as Dan Warren is making music, life doesn't suck quite as badly as i'd have everyone believe. go to the following website--these are the droids you're looking for:
http://www.whatstudios.net/dan/wttef.html
"vertical asymptotes" is still my favorite, but "scrapiron peacocks" is a tie for a close second, along with the new one, "birds in wal-mart."
but i still say watch out for the black ice on the roads-- because there's nothing you can do about that black hole that sits at the center of the universe, sucking everything down like an open drain at the bottom of a bathtub full of dirty water.

I see you've correctly anticipated my response. But I'll post it anyway.

1) I'm not saying that black hole's not there; I'm just saying there are other things to see here.

2) Dirty water is sometimes home to very interesting things. I never stop meeting interesting creatures in ugly places. Beauty is not always what you expect it to be.

3) It's my experience that drains always go somewhere. If there's one thing I am sure of it's conservation of energy. There is no sink that is not also a source, in some respect or another. The black holes in this universe must be suns in another. The dark places in this world cannot destroy us, only transform us.

4) Do not forget: dark is not the opposite of light, it's the absence of light. Maybe you can't light the whole world up, but you can melt the ice around you. Then there's that much less ice. I am thoroughly convinced that this world can be changed for the better; the trick is that it usually has to be done in small and frustrating steps. Mountains can be moved with teaspoons; it's just a matter of patience.

You and I are carved from the same materials, I think. And 9 days out of 10, you're cold and you never get warm; I get that. But that 10th one, that's the one you're living for. Keep that in mind. I don't think you've given up hope, but it's a good thing to stockpile.

Stay warm,
dw

And thanks for the extra publicity. Sooner or later I'm going to have to get off my ass and promote my own work.

thanks man; that was a good response. and by the way, i wish i had a&r guys in my pocket, then my publicity would be worth something. :)

Eh. I'd rather have two listeners that read your blog than 10 who listen to A&R guys. And by the way, was that cd I sent awhile back one of those that got stolen in Cincinnati? If so, I can send you a replacement; just send me an address of some kind.
